Below left: I bought the suit on the right, believing it to be a variation. The light stripes appear to be much sharper and thicker. When it arrived, I realized it wasn’t a variation, but the same fabric in mint condition. The fabric of the suit on the left has simply been worn through play. Below right: This does seem to be a fabric variation, though I’m yet to find a version like this NRFB.
BOOKLETS & CATALOGUES
The British catalogue is a bit optimistic in its description of the Designer Originals suit as ‘high quality’. Savile Row it ain’t.
The page below from the 1982 Italian Barbie booklet shows an unidentified Fashion Favorites outfit for Ken (top middle). It could possibly be a prototype that was never produced, but if anyone has ever seen this outfit, or has a photo of it NRFP, please let me know: contact@somethingabouttheboy.com.
