TWICE AS NICE

The Twice As Nice reversible fashion range continued, all produced in Taiwan. Mattel used some experimental fabrics here, which didn’t all stand the test of time. All my pieces are in mint condition, but the red vest from #9114 flakes, and the silver paint on the jacket from #9116 has been known to melt together.

Included here are a few exceptionally rare outfits (or parts of) produced by Mattel Spain. Most Mattel Spain outfits are similar to the regular versions, with slightly different construction techniques and different fabrics. The shoes are made of a hard plastic, but unlike the regular ones, have no markings. The Spanish versions of the Twice As Nice outfits shown below are noticeably different (and non-reversible). DAY-TO-NIGHT FASHIONS

TV Sports Reporter! #9086

This is a one-off outfit designed to fit with Mattel’s Day-to-Night Ken released this year. It is Ken’s first outfit to be made in China. Mattel Spain also produced a version of this outfit called Ejecutivo. It can be seen in the Spanish Barbie booklet below.
